This delicious butter soy sauce pasta combines delicious umami Asian flavors with some beautifully crafted Italian pasta — don’t you love it when 2 of your favorite things combines beautifully?

    Soy Butter Garlic Pasta

One of the things I love the most about traveling is the exposure to new recipe ideas- and during my trip back to NYC, I went to Kimika, a new hot spot in the restaurant scene that excels in Japanese Italian fusion. They had a delicious soy pasta dish, the Bigoli, that got me hooked. This recipe is a Fitsian version of that dish, made with a portioned amount of pasta and a delicious soy garlic sauce, amplifying the flavor without too many added calories.

🍏 How to Make It Healthy – The Fitsian Method

By portioning the more calorie ingredients in this dish mindfully, I'm able to keep this dish at under 300 calories. Here are the portions I used:

    • 1 portion of pasta (about 55g)
    • ½ tablespoon of butter -- just enough for the flavor without the calorie bomb
    • Garlic and soy sauce for lots of flavor without adding too many additional calories

    💡Tips and Tricks

Can I use other kinds of noodles?

In this recipe, I used curly pasta, but feel free to use other types of long pasta, egg noodles, or any other kinds of noodles.

Is soy sauce good on pasta?

Yup -- it's reminiscent of a chow mein dish and adds a very umami flavor to the dish.

Is the soy garlic sauce healthy?

Garlic and soy sauce are very low in calories, with each clove of garlic being only about 5 calories while one tablespoon of soy sauce at 9 calories. By portioning it with only ½ tablespoon of butter, the total calories from the sauce is only about 80 calories.
